Youth Mountain Bike Lessons
Private or small group lessons for youth of any gender (ages 5-17)
with a certified professional mountain bike coach
The best thing you can give a kid on a bike is real coaching
Anyone can take a kid out for a ride. A Dirt Town Adventures youth lesson gives them something that actually sticks: real skills, real confidence, and a real love for riding.
Lindsay is a PMBIA Level 2 Certified Mountain Bike Coach with 20+ years of experience working with kids and adults in outdoor education settings. She knows how to meet kids exactly where they are, keep things fun and low pressure, and create those lightbulb moments where a skill suddenly clicks and a kid's face lights up.
Every lesson is built around your child's goals, their current ability, and what they're excited to learn. No cookie-cutter sessions. No rushing through skills to check boxes. Just focused, personalized coaching that builds confidence one rep at a time.
What your kid will get out of a lesson
Mountain biking teaches kids way more than bike skills. It builds confidence, resilience, and a healthy relationship with challenge and failure. Watching a kid go from nervous and hesitant to pumping their fist after clearing a feature for the first time is exactly why Lindsay does this work.
Lessons focus on the skills that make the biggest difference: body position, braking, cornering, technical climbing and descending, drops, jumps, wheel lifts, rolldowns, and trackstands. Every session is customized to your child's level and what they want to work on, with lots of repetitions, video feedback, and real-time coaching to help them progress fast.
What makes a Dirt Town Adventures youth lesson different
Certified coaching, not just babysitting on bikes. Lindsay holds a PMBIA Level 2 certification and has spent two decades creating safe, supportive learning environments for adults and kids in the outdoors. Your child is in seriously good hands.
Fun is non-negotiable. Kids learn best when they're having a good time. Lindsay keeps sessions energetic, encouraging, and age-appropriate so kids stay engaged and want to come back.
Video feedback kids actually understand. Every lesson uses video to capture body position and mechanics in real time. Kids love seeing themselves ride and it makes the coaching land faster and stick longer.
Small groups, big attention. Lessons are private or small group so your child gets personalized feedback throughout, not just a few minutes of coaching in a crowd.
Safe space to try, fail, and succeed. Lindsay creates an environment where kids feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and trying again.
The Details
What ages do we work with? Youth lessons are for kids ages 5 to 17. If your child can ride independently without training wheels, they're ready.
How long are lessons? Lessons are available in 1-hour (Victor bike park only), 2-hour, 3-hour, 4-hour, and full-day formats (two sessions with a mid-day break). Shorter sessions work great for younger kids or first-timers. Longer sessions are ideal for older kids who are ready to really dig in.
What skills can we work on? Whatever your child is excited about. Body position, braking, trail vision, cornering, tight switchbacks, technical climbing, descending, drops, jumps, wheel lifts, rolldowns, trackstands, and more. We’ll pick the location based on what they want to learn.
Can my kid ride with a friend? Absolutely. Small group lessons are a great option and kids often push each other to try things they wouldn't attempt solo. Group pricing is available and gets more affordable the more kids you bring.
What happens after I book? Once you submit the booking form, Lindsay will personally reach out to learn more about your child's experience level, what they want to work on, and to dial in the logistics. Expect a response within 24 hours.
