Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? Good. Here are the ones we hear most often. If yours isn't here, just reach out at dirttownadventures@gmail.com and Lindsay will get back to you personally.
Guided Tours
What makes a Dirt Town Adventures guided tour different from a regular guided ride?Every tour is led by Lindsay, a PMBIA Level 2 Certified Mountain Bike Coach. That means you're not just getting someone to follow down a trail. You're getting real-time coaching, personalized feedback, and skills instruction woven into every mile. If you want tips on your cornering, your climbing technique, or how to approach a technical feature, Lindsay is watching and coaching throughout. It's a guided ride and a coaching session in one.
What is the difference between a half-day and a full-day tour? Half-day tours involve roughly 2-2.5 hours of pedaling and about 4 hours total including transport. Full-day tours involve 4-6 hours of pedaling and 6-8 hours total, and include a trail-side lunch. Not sure which is right for you? Most first-timers find the half-day is plenty, and a great way to see if you want to come back for more.
Where can I rent a bike in Teton Valley? No bike? No problem. Here are our favorite local shops:
Teton Valley:
Peaked Sports- full suspension mountain bikes and gravel bikes
Westside Ski & Cycle- full suspension mountain bikes, e-mountain bikes, and gravel bikes
Jackson:
Hoback Sports - full suspension mountain bikes, e-mountain bikes, and gravel bikes
Wilson Backcountry Sports - mountain bikes
Need help coordinating a rental? We're happy to help you figure out the right bike and support logistics so you can just show up and ride.
What is the guide to guest ratio? 1 coach to 5 guests maximum.
What do I need to bring on a tour? Bring your bike, pedals, and helmet (or arrange a rental). Beyond that, pack a small daypack with water, snacks, and a couple of clothing layers. Nice to haves: knee and elbow pads, riding gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, and your phone for photos. If you carry an Epi-pen, bring it along.
What does Dirt Town Adventures provide on a tour? Your guide carries an emergency communication device, first aid kit, bike repair kit, snacks, water, sunscreen, and bear spray on every tour. Full-day tours include lunch. If you need a pack to carry your gear, just let us know and we can sort that out.
How fast and how far will we ride? That's entirely up to you. All tours are private so we build the ride around your fitness and skill level. Want to take it easy and focus on skills? Done. Want to push yourself and cover more ground? Also done. There's no keeping up with a group or rushing through terrain you're not comfortable with.
Where do tours start? After you submit your booking request, Lindsay will reach out to figure out where you're staying and what makes the most logistical sense. Dirt Town Adventures can transport up to five bikes and four riders. For larger groups we'll coordinate to make sure everyone gets to the trailhead.
What food is included? We recommend eating a solid breakfast and arriving well hydrated. Snacks (bars, gels, chews) are provided on all tours. Full-day tours include lunch from Victor Valley Market. Have a sandwich preference or dietary restrictions? Just let us know when you book and we'll do our best to accommodate.
Can I ride an e-MTB on a guided tour? Yes, with some route considerations. Most local trails are non-motorized only, so we'll need to plan your route accordingly. The good news is that most trails in the Big Hole Mountain Range on the west side of Teton Valley are open to e-bikes, and there's some incredible riding over there. Just mention your e-bike when you book and we'll design a great route.
Do I need to sign a waiver before my tour? Yep. Once we have the names and email addresses for all riders in your group, we'll send everyone a link to our Acknowledgement of Risk form. All riders need to have this signed before we hit the trail.
What is your cancellation policy for guided tours? We require 48 hours notice for all guided tour cancellations. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before your tour will forfeit the full tour price. Life happens though, so if something unexpected comes up reach out directly and we'll do our best to work with you.
Skills Lessons
What is the minimum age for lessons? Youth lessons are for riders ages 5-17. Adult lessons are for riders 18+.
How long are lessons? Lessons are available in 1-hour (bike park only), 2-hour, 3-hour, 4-hour, and full-day formats (two sessions with a mid-day break). Most adults find the 2 or 3-hour lesson hits the sweet spot. For kids, shorter sessions often work better depending on age and energy levels.
What skills can we work on? Whatever you want. Body position, braking, cornering, technical climbing, descending, drops, jumps, wheel lifts, rolldowns, trackstands, trail vision, line choice, and more. Not sure what to focus on? Lindsay will assess your riding at the start and help you figure out what will make the biggest difference.
Can I bring a friend or ride with my kid? Absolutely. Small group lessons are available and often a great way to share the cost while still getting personalized coaching. Kids and parents riding together is something Lindsay loves doing.
What happens after I book a lesson? Once you submit the form, Lindsay will personally reach out within 24 hours to learn more about your riding background, goals, and available dates. From there she'll confirm the logistics, location, and any gear needs, and send an invoice to hold your spot.

Skills Clinics
How are clinics different from private lessons? Clinics are scheduled open-enrollment group sessions focused on a specific skill or theme, like cornering, jumps, drops, or technical climbing. They're a great way to learn in a small group environment at a lower price point than a private lesson. Private lessons give you more personalized one-on-one time and are fully customized to your goals.
How do I know which clinic is right for my skill level? Each clinic listing on the skills clinics page clearly states the skill level it's designed for, beginner, intermediate, or advanced, along with age requirements and group size. When in doubt, reach out and Lindsay will help you find the right fit.
What if a clinic is sold out? Shoot us an email at dirttownadventures@gmail.com and we'll add you to a waitlist. Spots do open up and we'll let you know as soon as one does.
